Wow, four+ months have gone by now — the work started in Boulder, moved to Miami, headed out to Dallas and now back in Miami. First off, CP+B is a stellar group of folks to create ideas with. It’s rumored that they make you keep long hours, live at your desk and never see the sunlight. I do have to say, having worked in both the Boulder office and Miami one, that folks may exaggerate a bit. Sure, at 11PM on Tuesday you may see some creatives hashing out some ideas, but it’s like that with every damn agency I’ve worked at. There’s always a pitch, a fire to put out or a deadline. It’s part of the gig. There’s also the lull when you wonder when the heck the client will give their feedback.

“But why freelance?” That’s what people ask me a lot. The answer is directly related to the aforementioned rumors of “living to work.” A lot of advertising folks put so much of their lives into this trade that it’s easy to see why there aren’t too many creatives in the field over 45. That said, I enjoy all aspects of creativity in my life and continue to dedicate myself to them — music, photography, advertising, writing, etc. Freelance/consulting/whatever you want to call it has given me this chance to allow different forms to creativity to enhance each other (I believe). Heck, I even released a record.

So what’s next? Who knows. But I’m always up to find a new adventure.
